Danish Dance Theatre, based at the Opera in Copenhagen, is looking for a hands-on and solution-oriented Technical Manager to join our dedicated team. If you have strong technical expertise, experience in planning touring productions, the ability to adapt performances to different venues and a good mood, we would love to hear from you. Technical Manager

37 hours per week

About the Position
As Technical Manager, you will be hands-on and oversee all technical aspects of the company’s productions – both internally and on tour. You will work closely with choreographers, designers and production teams to ensure the best possible conditions for our performances, while maintaining a practical, hands-on approach in our small, dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and plan the technical side of the productions including staffing, technical production planning and external suppliers in close collaboration with the producer, stage manager and technical freelance staff;
  • Plan, adapt, run and execute technical setups for touring productions;
  • Handle all technical aspects of productions, including lighting, sound, set design and rigging, including contact with external suppliers;
  • Set up and maintain theatre technical installations;
  • Hire and coordinate tasks with freelancers on tour, manage temporary contracts for staff and suppliers;
  • Budget management of the technical department;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations and implementation of sustainable practices according to the Theatre Green Book.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Fluent English speaker (Danish is a plus, but not a requirement);
  • A colleague with several years of experience in theatre as a technical manager, production manager or similar role;
  • Extensive knowledge of lighting, sound and stage technology;
  • A hands-on problem solver with a flexible and proactive attitude;
  • A good colleague who has both the ability to work in a team and also independently;
  • Comfortable with changing working hours, including evenings and weekends in connection with performances;
  • Experience with administration of freelance contracts and technical budgets
    Other skills (Not a Must, But a Plus);
  • 3D drawing skills for technical planning (WiSIWYG, Capture, Vectorworks, Sketchup);
  • Experience with building permits etc. for outdoor productions;
  • Experience with sustainable production within the performing arts or the desire to learn;
  • Experience with touring theater in Denmark;
  • Network within stage technicians in Denmark;
  • Knowledge of programming and operating lighting consoles (e.g. GrandMA3);
  • Knowledge of Qlab software or other technical planning tools;
  • Experience working with non-traditional performance spaces and outdoor stages;
  • Driver’s license.
