The Programs team is looking for an intern to work with us for 5 months, starting on 13 January 2025 for 4-5 days per week.
Intern Programs Team
32 to 40 hours per week
In May we will bring the 2025 Contest winners from around the world to Amsterdam for the Winners’ Program. They will receive recognition for their work, visibility on a worldwide scale, networking opportunities with relevant professionals, and an exchange of personal and global expertise.
We are looking for a motivated intern to support the Programs team for five months, starting on January 13th, 2025. This internship supports the online and live judging of the competition as well as the planning and executing of events that make up the Winners Program. During a dynamic five months, you will gain hands-on experience with event planning and management, as well as insight into different production processes. You will also work closely with the work selected as the winning entries in the 2025 World Press Photo Contest.
This is an opportunity to join World Press Photo at the most exciting time of the year, helping to announce, publish, exhibit and premiere the year’s winning stories. During your internship, you will work with a range of professionals from across the photographic community, from photographers and curators, to photo editors and festival directors. You will also be supporting the online and live judging sessions and in producing the annual winners’ celebration, gaining extensive experience and a broad set of practical skills along the way.
Your tasks
- Event production
- Support the planning, logistics and implementation of the Winners’ Program leading up to and during the event in May. This could include working with vendors and venues; researching program ideas, drafting and sending out invitations, tracking RSVPs; reaching out to target groups, assembling materials and content.
- Assist and collaborate with different teams to make the event a success.
- Liaise with different stakeholders, which may include suppliers, partners, photographers et cetera.
- Programs and education support
- Day-to-day administrative support.
- Assisting in the preparation of education and outreach events.
- Assisting in the preparation of and implementation of judging sessions.
- Conducting research to support projects.
- Manage the general inbox.
Your profile
- You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program.
- You have a demonstrated interest in photography, media and/or arts and culture.
- You are a quick-thinking self-starter with the ability to multitask.
- You are creative, well organized and have a good eye for detail.
- You are fluent in English, both written and spoken. Additional languages would be an advantage.
- You have strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
- You are living in or near Amsterdam.
Our offer
The World Press Photo Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization with its office in Amsterdam. The total staff of the organization is 26.
We offer an internship with a variety of tasks and responsibilities in a dynamic working atmosphere. You will get the chance to work in a highly purpose driven environment and learn from behind the scenes of the core of the organization: the annual contest.
We would like you to start in mid of January for a period of 5 months. The duration of the internship and hours per week can be discussed during the interview stage. Working hours can differ depending on the stage of the contest, the Winners Program, and other events and deadlines, but on average, you will work 32/40 hours per week. In some weeks this work comes with over hours, which can be compensated for later. We currently offer the opportunity to work hybridly from office and home, with 2 or more days a week at the office. During the internship, you will be supervised by the Manager of Programs and the other team members. You will be thoroughly introduced to the organization and the contest and winners programme event at the start of your internship.
We offer compensation of € 500 (net/full-time) per month, and when applicable a travel or working from home allowance.
This position is at the moment only open to EU citizens or individuals with an existing valid work permit for the EU.
