ArtEZ Academy of Music is one of the largest music academies in the Netherlands and collaborates with a large number of music academies within and outside of the European Union. Within the three locations in Arnhem, Enschede and Zwolle, the atmosphere is open and of a small scale. There is a lot of personal attention and the lines are short. For the Classical Music program (bachelor and master), we are seeking, effective 1 September 2023, a Classical Flute Teacher for 0,1 to 0,2 fte (depending on the total amount of students).

You will mainly work from Zwolle. On occasion, work also takes place at the Enschede and Arnhem locations.
The study program of the ArtEZ Music Academy in Zwolle are characterised by commitment: students and teachers pay a lot of attention to the social and societal significance of music. Music as a value, means to let people express themselves, to connect people or to support people in their own personal development. Students in Zwolle are curious about society and they investigate how they can make an innovative contribution as musicians or music teachers. Classical music students are given the space to shape their own curriculum and graduate with their own profile.
Your work
As a Flute Teacher, you give individual and group lessons to flute students in the preparatory, bachelor and master’s program. Together with the other main subject teachers you will form a section, with whom you will work closely in coaching and developing the students. The expertise of the entire teaching team is available to all students and is shaped in the program of the Classical Music department.
In addition to the Classical Music program, the Zwolle music academy also houses the Music in Education and Jazz & Pop program. There is increasing cooperation with both programs, both in the regular timetable and in projects. The study program is bilingual: Dutch and English.
Your profile
- You are an inspired pedagogue and inspiring flute player.
- You have extensive, international experience as a performing flute player, preferable in chamber music ensembles.
- Specific knowledge and experience of playing piccolo is a plus.
- You are open to students who show affinity with repertoire other than classical and prepared to invest in new inflow of students.
- You have strong communication skills, both in your contact with students and with fellow teachers and staff.
- As a Teacher, you inspire students to get the best out of themselves by coaching them in their development into independent players with their own personality. You do so with enthusiasm, based on your experience and knowledge and supported by your excellent didactic qualities.
- Your oral and written English language skills are well-developed (C1 level).
Our offer
You will be given a temporary contract for one year. If you perform well, there is the possibility of extension. The gross monthly salary has a minimum of € 3.881 and a maximum of € 5.332 (job title D5 lecturer B, scale 11) on the basis of a 36-hour working week. In addition to an informal and open working atmosphere, we offer attractive terms of employment in accordance with the CAO Hbo, including a holiday allowance of 8%, a 13th month and good study and development opportunities.
