Arts & Culture Coordinator

Maternity Cover

40 hours per week

Type of role: Freelance – 4.5 months
Start: 17th October 2022

The Role:
As our Arts & Culture Coordinator, covering 4.5 months of maternity leave, you will have a supporting role at the core of Nxt Museum Arts & Culture team. You will work directly with the Creative Director, Curator and a fellow Coordinator on a diverse range of activities. You will be involved in planning new exhibitions, organising thought-provoking public programmes and coordinating the creative side of projects such as the development of new artworks, merchandise, or an NFT drop.

Your typical day will consist of mapping out and managing key deliverables for varying Arts and Culture programmes (ie talks, events, exhibition updates, public programmes). You might start the morning by reviewing and updating project timelines or attending creative sessions with the Creative Director/Curator to set up project briefs. During lunch we walk, talk and eat together. By the afternoon you are planning and carrying out creative/artist meetings to ensure projects are developing inline with defined scopes. You will also align with the production team to ensure projects match defined budgets and production specifications. On other days you may be testing artworks in the space, checking in on the development of creative assets and new merchandise products or even dance/watch/enjoy art with fellow colleagues during our programmes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist the Creative Director, Curator and a fellow Arts & Culture Coordinator in the coordination and implementation of creative project plans (art, culture and design).
  • Assist in the organisation of new cultural events and programmes, such as exhibitions, public programming, and education, keeping in mind the projects’ scopes and objectives and working to the established timelines (ie creating and maintaining briefing documents, setting up and tracking projects timelines and deliverables, managing artist/partner outreach and communication, etc).
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately.
  • Facilitate a structured working environment.

Experience & profile:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in project management and coordination;
  • Fluent in English in both verbal and written forms, Dutch is a plus;
  • Ability to coordinate projects from inception through execution in a timely and structured manner;
  • Detail-oriented;
  • Absolute team player with effective communication and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Affinity to and knowledge of the arts and culture sector;
  • Interest in and understanding of technology;
  • Knowledge of new media and the latest developments (i.e., Web 3.0, NFTs) is a plus;
  • Independent & solution driven;
  • Curious, open minded and inclusive, with a global and forward-looking mindset.
