Social Media & Communications Specialist

40 hours per week

In this position, you will be creating, researching, selecting, writing, posting and executing our online and offline marketing campaigns to grow the awareness of our house across the local market and worldwide. As our online and offline ambassador, you will create and maintain a strong presence of our brand across various social media platforms (with the focus on Instagram growth), support offline communications with the press and within various art circles.

You are able to create content that drives impactful buzz among the digital and offline communities and drives organic/referral traffic and increase retention. The ideal candidate for the role is someone who has a strong interest in art and antiques and has a background in marketing/communications and is practically raised on Internet. Has team spirit, natural curiosity and ability to work both individually and in cross-functional teams. Someone who will thrive in our freedom and responsibility culture. The Social Media & Communications Specialist will report to the Marketing Manager and the Managing Director.

In this role you will:

  • Based on the understanding, research and curiosity of our past and upcoming art auctions create an impactful word of mouth, engaging texts, images, and video content to address the right audience for our upcoming auctions and events;
  • Manage the presence of our brand on social media platforms and our other digital channels (website, newsletter) on day to day basis. This means to communicate and engage with our followers, respond to queries, monitor the results, stay up to date with the new platforms and social media latest trends;
  • Continue writing new content to maintain a high level of engagement and grow our followers base throughout our existing social media platforms and beyond: Facebook > 45K active followers, >30K newsletter subscribers, Instagram >11.4K followers, LinkedIn, YouTube, WeChat business and fan bases;
  • In close cooperation with the Public Relations & Consignment Coordinator develop and grow client relationships with journalists, various art circle groups, museums, and cultural organizations, press and media outlets, influencers. This includes briefings, costs quotes, press release preparation and writing; writing inspiring articles about various art lots, art collections, etc.; preparation of the valuation & consignment days and various events at our auction house and/or elsewhere in cooperation with our auction house;
  • Provide all-round support to the Marketing Manager in the operational execution of our online and offline marketing strategies and assisting in various stages of sponsored campaigns preparation in liaising with the media agencies;
  • Create and adhere to the tight online and offline publishing calendars for online organic posts and sponsored campaigns, as well as print media;
  • Work closely and proactively with the team of Art Experts in creating an impactful message to address and reach each target group per auction and specific art category;
  • Work with Website & Auction coordinator, Graphic Designer to create landing pages for our campaigns, both organic and sponsored. Maintain and update our website content.

Qualifications required:

  • Dutch native speaker with excellent speaking and creative writing skills in both, Dutch and English, is essential;
  • A Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Culture or/and Marketing/Communications;
  • Solid social media knowledge and minimum 1 year working experience with the social media platforms, especially Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn;
  • Experience in copywriting, translation and communication (experience in blogging, writing press material, organizing online and offline events);
  • You are passionate about social media and have a strong interest in developing your career in marketing and communications;
  • Working knowledge with analytics tools such as Google Analytics (SEA), MailChimp, optimization techniques is a plus;
  • Capable of working with Adobe Photoshop (Illustrator, Lightroom InDesign is a plus);
  • Basic skills in video shooting, editing and releasing is a plus;
  • Creativity, strong sense of design and aesthetics;
  • Proactivity and hands-on mentality;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently;
  • Adherence to tight deadlines and flexibility to work on the weekends and outside the office hours is essential;
  • Previous experience working in the art business is preferred but not mandatory.

Terms and conditions:
We offer an initial temporary position of one year, with the possibility of another extension of one year based on performance and funding. After two years, this position may lead to a permanent appointment. We offer a competitive salary package.
