ArtEZ University of the Arts
ArtEZ University of the Arts is one of the largest art academies in the Netherlands. ArtEZ offers bachelor and master programmes in the fields of visual art, fashion, design, architecture, music, dance and theatre. Its broad range of courses offers scope for multidisciplinary collaboration. The university has approximately 3000 students and 900 lecturers and other staff. Education is provided in Arnhem, Enschede and Zwolle. The Executive Board and the supporting services are concentrated in Arnhem.

APRIA (ArtEZ Platform for Research Interventions in the Arts) is an online platform that curates a peer-reviewed journal (APRIA journal) and publishes high-impact essays, image and sound contributions that examine art and interventions of the arts in relation to science and society, and that encourage dialogue around themes that are critical and urgent to the futures that we will live in.

APRIA was built and launched over a year ago and has a good, solid foundation and inspiring content, but now is the time to expand, build and prepare APRIA for the future. We aim to establish more connections with external parties to enlarge our network. Building a strong community of interested readers, authors and researchers will help to give the research that comes out of ArtEZ a recognizable and solid place in the world of art research, and will help to emphasise the connection between science and art. APRIA is the responsibility of ArtEZ Press and ArtEZ Studium Generale.

For APRIA we are looking for a:

Content & Communication Advisor

0,3 to 0,4 fte

Your profile
You are familiar with relevant networks, such as other platforms, other (scientific) journals, (groups of) peer reviewers and groups of readers. You have knowledge of editorial production processes in the field of (scientific and art) journals/magazines/platforms. (Social) media use and communication / commmunity management strategies are known to you and you have a large network in the arts and university world. Your writing skills are good as well as your planning skills. Your background is hbo / university and your knowledge of both the Dutch and English language (both speaking and writing) is good. You are able to work independently.

Your work activities
You will actively identify and connect to relevant networks and parties in the field. You will introduce APRIA’s key message and develop brand awareness through all possible channels. Besides that you will write a plan of action for community strategy and for content and editorial process strategy for the year 2022 and you will reinforce the connection between internal and external knowledge. Also you will prepare and submit applications for funding.

You report to the editor-in-chiefs of APRIA (ArtEZ Press and Studium Generale) and will be working under the direct supervision of the publisher (head of ArtEZ Press). You will work closely together with the APRIA content manager, who maintains the website and posts journals and platform contributions.

Our offer
You will be given a temporary contract until 31 December 2021 for 0.3 or 0,4 fte. Upon mutual satisfaction, there is the possibility of an extension. The gross monthly salary is a minimum of € 2,845.48 and a maximum of € 4,307.66 (Position Advisor/policy officer, scale 10) based on a 36-hour working week. Besides an informal and open working atmosphere, we offer attractive employment conditions in accordance with the CAO-HBO such as a holiday allowance of 8%, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and good study and development opportunities. The work takes place mainly at the Arnhem location.
